Historically, payments platforms haven taken a monolithic approach to managing risk. Companies have built products and services designed to address potential fraud vectors within a given network, addressing only the challenges present in the specific “rail” over which they move money.
Push is building a simple-yet-powerful multi-network payment processor in order to unlock better economics (i.e. reduction in the marginal cost of payments) and performance (e.g. higher authorization rates) while effectively managing transaction risk for our customers. This requires that we are able to effectively combine signals and capabilities from each payment rail to make an intelligent decision on how the payment should be routed. The unique challenge, unlike traditional payments risk roles, is that we are not just making "yes or no" decision for a given transaction, but instead we are asking how each transaction should be processed.
As a senior founding engineer, you will work closely with the CEO and technical co-founder. You will be directly responsible for making decisions about the functionality and technical design of foundational product components, such as our payments risk engine or backend processor integrations.
The ideal candidate is someone who knows the right questions to ask in order to understand what needs to happen, and then executes to achieve that goal with urgency and an eye towards craftsmanship. You should see yourself not just as a “coder” or “programmer” but as someone who understands the business context of their work and seeks to identify how engineering can unlock greater value from each of the initiatives they are involved in.

During their time, they saw first hand the challenges and opportunities presented by taking a multi-rail approach to payment processing, much of which inspired them to start Push Cash in March of 2023.
